Where Oh Where Have I Been?

Hi, remember me?

Sorry I have been MIA for a long time on my blogging but I am starting to pick it up again.  Slowly but surely, my goal is to blog at least once every other week.

Let's talk Halloween!  I have been extremely busy making costumes for the littles and so excited to ship them off one by one as soon as I have them finished.

Just wanted to introduce you to "Little Red"  It's my take on a classic storybook character that I love and have always wanted to make a costume and a hooded cape.  I achieved exactly what I was wanting to do here.

Dress pattern is "Aria" by Little Lizard King.  It's a peasant dress pattern that is roomy, comfortable and has endless possibilities in what you can do with it.  I wanted to give the dress a corset look without looking too mature for a child, so I chose to just do a split bodice on the bodice panels by adding black fabric with some pretty white eyelet trim.

The Hooded Caplet pattern is by "Made for Mermaids".  It's an adorable pattern and has the options to fully line it or simplify it by leaving it unlined.  Personally I prefer a clean finished look so I went ahead and lined the caplet with the exact same material that you see on the top.  A contrasting black material was also on my list, but I decided to keep it all red because I love the quality of fabric and it draped beautifully!  I also love that is doesn't cover the sweetness of the dress!

The adorable little one in the photos is my niece.  She was not in the mood for a photo shoot on a day when it was close to her bedtime and she was also teething, but I just chalk it up to her seeing the "BIG BAD WOLF".

This dress and caplet were new to my Etsy shop this Fall just in time for Halloween orders and I was so happy that I sold a few of them and the messages I received always stated that they were happy to see that this dress was "Child-like" looking without having the look of someone older when referring to the corset look on the bodice.  :)

"Mom, is THAT THE BIG BAD WOLF?"

Back of the dress-you can see I incorporated the split bodice on the front and the back.
